Description
Butter Skull: Luxe takes the series’ central theme of beauty and decay and gives it a deliberately more luxurious treatment – the delicacy of the butterfly and darkness of the skull rendered in blush pink and black against a rich metallic gold background.
Unlike the UV-reactive works in the series, Luxe is designed entirely around its presence in natural and ambient light. The metallic gold shifts subtly as the light changes, contrasting with the softness of the pink and the stark black forms of the skull.
The restrained three-colour palette gives Luxe a more refined, decadent character while preserving the visual contradiction at the heart of the series: something beautiful carrying an image of decay within it.
Hand-cut and spray-painted using Montana paints on a 60 × 60 cm deep-edge canvas.
