Justify My Love reinterprets Patrick Demarchelier’s iconic photograph of Madonna, used for the cover of her provocative 1990 single Justify My Love.
At an imposing 100 × 70 cm, the instantly recognisable image is transformed into a bold, large-format statement piece. A stripped-back palette of powder blue, acid yellow and black amplifies the peaked cap, cigarette and direct stare that give the original image its unmistakable attitude.
Producing the work at this scale required the original hand-cut stencil composition to be enlarged across multiple sections, creating a portrait designed to dominate the wall.
Hand-cut and spray-painted using Montana GOLD paints.
